Are You Ready For Wirless?

It is time for you to seriously consider wirless networking and join one of the fastest-growing forms of networking in the entire world.  It is easy to use and is quite inexpensive.  There are certain things that you will need to purchase and websites that will walk you through the process of setting up your own wireless system using a wirless network diagram.

Every day brings new technology to wireless networking.  Radio signals are utilized rather than cumbersome standard cables.  This is one of the primary reasons you should set up a wireless system using a wirless network diagram.  The technology is very similar to that used by certain cordless telephones.  Wireless networking simply allows you to use a computer or laptop anywhere within the range of the network with no interruption of network service.  You won’t need to worry about dragging lengthy cords across the floor in order to use your laptop.

Choose the wirless network diagram that works best in your particular situation and keep in mind that there are three standards that must be followed with wireless networking.  They are:  802.11b, 802.11a and 802.11g.  Things such as range, layout and budget should also be considered when selecting the appropriate standard for you.  Briefly, here is a definition of the three network standards:

802.11b This is the standard wireless type and has a maximum speed of 11 Mbps and a maximum operating range of 300 feet indoors and 500 feet outdoors.  The band on which it operates can sometimes cause problems with microwave ovens and some cordless telephones.

802.11a This is faster than the 802.11b but also requires more costly equipment.  The operating range is shorter and the speed decreases at distances over 100 feet.  It is highly reliable however.

802.11g This combines the best concepts of both worlds.  It has the speed of 802.11a equipment and is compatible with existing 802.11b networks.  It’s also less costly than 802.11a.  The range parallels 802.11b.

Cost of setting up a wireless network is an important consideration.  Look at things like range, speed and interference when evaluating all costs involved.  Selecting a proper wirless network diagram is important when costs need to be looked at.
